JIM GOLDEN GIVES LIFE TO VINTAGE DEVICES

Portland-based photographer jim golden delivers a hearty dose of nostalgia in his series ‘relics of technology’, comprising animated gifs and still life images.Set in front of ’70s-friendly pale hues, the machines are brought back from the dead media abyss to blink and whir once again.

From typewriters to floppy disks, the series was inspired when Golden found a football-sized cell phone at a thrift store. “These photos are reminders that progress has a price and our efforts have an expiration date,” says the artist rather nihilistically.

Get the shivers thinking about how dial-up Internet could be turned into a GIF.
