PROPOSAL FOR ILULISSAT ICEFJORD PARK, GREENLAND
Invited competition, finalist
Architecture shaped by Climate Change.
Imagine a future where buildings where made by a combination of nowadays design and rough natural materials such as rocks, ice, wood etc.
“The Ilulissat Icefjord Park uses the melting of ice to shape space. Studio Other Spaces has created a unique design strategy where ice is at once the formwork of a concrete structure and the focal point of the resulting space.”
Studio Other Spaces, by using naturally calved icebergs from the nearby ice fjord, creates an exhibition building called Ice Void.
Ice Void, is linked by a 360-degree path, to the Sun Cone. A building with a light glass structure providing a spectacular panoramic view of the surroundings, the Arctic Sun and the awe-inspiring ice fjord.
