Mike Perry, designer & artist,  is the creator of the 7-second-long intro of Broad City and he loves to draw, paint, illustrate, animate, cut & paste.

“The power of animation is that you’re not bound by the laws of physics. You don’t have to make something that exists with gravity and weights,” he says. “You’re allowed to do anything, and the only limitations are what I’m able to concept.”

Mike Perry prefers to spend more time drawing than in front of his computer and that’s what he did for Broad City’s Intro. Each animation consists of 160 individual drawings for each frame. “At the end of each season, I have this artifact of thousands of pieces of paper,” he says.

(Broad City is an American Series created by Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson who also co star as two women living their daily lives in New York City making the smallest and mundane events hysterical.)
